LEWISTON — Maine Prep’s SAT prep classes for high school students in the Lewiston/Auburn area will begin Sunday, March 6. The eight-session course is designed to teach students strategies to use in the math, writing and reading sections of the SAT.

Classes will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays until May 1 at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce office at KeyBank Plaza, 415 Lisbon St.

The course will prepare students for the mandatory statewide May 7 SAT. Students’ SAT scores will be used not only for college entrance and financial aid awards, but also for assessing the proficiency of Maine high schools.

Maine Prep is offering 12 separate SAT courses throughout the state to help students prepare. Classes and private tutoring are being held in Bangor, Bethel, Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, Lewiston/Auburn, Newcastle, Kennebunkport, Falmouth, Portland, Scarborough and Waterville
