OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Golden State Warriors have reached a buyout agreement with Troy Murphy and placed him on waivers.
The move announced Monday had been expected since the Warriors acquired Murphy and a second-round draft pick in a trade last week that sent Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric to New Jersey.
The 6-foot-11, 245-pound Murphy will likely draw strong interest from playoff teams who are looking for another big man, such as Miami, Boston, Orlando and Dallas.
Murphy was originally taken by the Warriors with the 14th overall pick in the 2001 draft. He has averaged 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in his career with Golden State, Indiana and New Jersey.
Terms of the buyout agreement were not disclosed.
