Could someone explain to me why we’re almost a week into the spring training schedule and the Red Sox have yet to be televised? You’ve got two big free agent additions (granted, one hasn’t taken a swing in anger yet), you’ve got numerous stars returning from season-ending injuries, you’ve got some new bullpen arms, and you’ve got maximum buzz surrounding the team, yet we can’t get a damned game on NESN until Friday night.

Why couldn’t we get at least one game over the last six days? Did Don Orsillo need time to work on his Sean McDonough impersonation? Did Jerry Remy have some bobblehead shipments to make before heading south to Fort Myers? Is the crew too busy taping new episodes of some dating or quiz show no one is going to watch?

I found myself so desperate for baseball/weather porn last night that I watched two innings of Royals/Dodgers on MLB Network. Two innings.

Not that it was a total waste. I’ve been sufficiently updated on the Royals’ stellar farm system, so at least I’m prepared for the inevitable fire sale KC will hold in six or seven years. But I had to get this information from the insufferable Charlie Steiner. It only reinforced my belief that, effective immediately, all medical research on the planet must be devoted to keeping Vin Scully alive.
