Reconstruction of downtown sidewalks

Issue: A public hearing was held to examine plans for the reconstruction of sidewalks and drainage along Main Street. Heading toward High Street, the new sidewalk would be on the right side of the road, beginning at Houle Street. It would continue onto High Street, though it’s uncertain how far the budget will allow the reconstruction to go. The $490,000 project is being paid for with 10 percent town funding and 90 percent state money.

The Scoop: Construction could begin as early as July.
