AUBURN — The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston announces that Kristin Melville has been hired as development director.

Melville will lead the development effort through the YMCA’s fundraising campaigns, donor recognition programs, events and the future capital campaign to support the building of a new YMCA.

Melville has more than 18 years’ experience in fundraising, major gifts, events, capital campaigns, marketing and communications. She has significant experience with social service organizations and hospital fundraising. She was previously employed at Lincoln County Healthcare as director of development and major gifts. She worked at Shalom House helping to raise capital funds to complete the Tom Gorman Center and Residential Campus in Portland and, most recently, at Tedford Housing in Brunswick.

She has served as a consultant to many nonprofit organizations in development planning and brand communications. She has written fundraising and public relations articles that have been published in professional trade magazines including “The Chronicle of Philanthropy.”

Melville is a graduate of Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia, a member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals, and occupies a seat on the board of directors for the Maine Public Relations Council.

She lives in Standish with her husband. They have two grown children.
