FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester has pitched three innings of a simulated game.

Lester missed his scheduled start Sunday because of illness. He threw Monday before the Red Sox played Orioles.

Working on the back field, Lester threw to five Red Sox minor leaguers, including right-handed hitters Oscar Tejeda, Hector Luna, Che-Hsuan Lin and Ryan Lavarnway and lefty Nate Spears. He threw 49 pitches.
