WILTON — Wilton Recreation recently held playoffs for its Grade 4-8 boys’ basketball league.

In semifinal action, the No. 1 Celtics downed the No. 4 Hawks, 38-30. Dylan Blodgett led the Celtics with 11 points. George Edmunds added eight. Marshall Doyon topped the Hawks with 21. Doyon was the league’s high scorer this season with 156 points.

The No. 2 76ers rolled past the No. 3 Spurs, 30-11, in the other semifinal. C.J. Bullen scored 11 to lead the Sixers, Tyler Poisson popped in five points to pace the Spurs.

Balanced scoring staked the Celtics to the championship game win. Isaiah Clements led the way with eight points. Edmunds chipped in six, while Caleb Hall had five. Jesse Dalton sparked the Sixers with eight.

Longtime rec volunteer Mark Brooks coached the Celtics. Julie Foy (76ers), Claude Doyon (Hawks) and Bert Poisson (Spurs) led the other squads.

Winthrop wins two

WINSLOW — Winthrop’s Grade 6 boys’ basketball team picked  up two wins at the Winslow Jamboree.

In a thrilling 35-34 victory over the host team, Tsouprake (nine points), Hamlin (eight) and Robertson (eight) keyed the balanced attack for Winthrop. Earle scored 12 and LaFlamme eight for Winslow.

Hickey had 18 points in Winthrop’s convincing 56-19 triumph over MCI. Tsouprake added seven and Brooks scored six.
