LEWISTON — Three people were hurt Thursday morning when a car and truck collided on College Street.
Police said Shannon Perron, 20, of Monmouth was driving north on College Street at about 7:45 a.m. when her car crashed head-on into a pickup truck driven by Andrew Bean, 23, of Leeds.
According to an accident report, Bean told police he turned into the oncoming lane to avoid striking a vehicle that had slowed in front of him. When he did, his truck collided with Perron’s.
The front ends of both vehicles were mangled in the wreck. Both spun to a stop near the intersection with East Merrill Road.
Police blocked off College Street traffic for a time as fire and rescue crews responded.
In her Dodge Neon, Perron suffered possible broken bones. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where she was listed in fair condition later in the day.
A passenger, David Stroute, 21, suffered facial cuts and other injuries. He was listed in fair condition at CMMC.
Bean, who had been driving a 1998 Mazda pickup, was examined at the scene for pain in his legs. He did not require hospital treatment.
