Playoff rally and season awards

The Lewiston Maineiacs will not hold a complete awards banquet this season, citing a lack of funds to do so.

But the team will reward its players for their accomplishments, and reward the fans with a public appearance surrounding those awards.

The Maineiacs will be holding a playoff rally and awards ceremony on March 23 at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center in Lewiston.

In addition to the rally and the players being available for autographs and pictures, the 2010-11 team awards will be presented.

Those fans wanting to attend will have the option to have a meal or, if they prefer, they can attend the rally and awards portion only. This option, the team said, will help make the awards ceremony affordable for everyone who wants to attend.

Seeking feedback

One of the postseason awards the Maineiacs will hand out in less than two weeks will be a fans’ choice award. The team is asking fans at the final home game of the season to cast their ballot for the fans’ choice award.

The team is also looking for feedback. Fans at the rink can fill out a suggestion card with ways the team can attempt to improve your game experience.

That portion of the fan feedback could earn a lucky fan tickets to a Boston Bruins game at the TD Garden, courtesy of Champoux Insurance.

Chasing 50

Etienne Brodeur has three games left this season — and just one remaining at home — in his quest to reach the 50-goal plateau.

Brodeau already holds the single-season team record with 49 goals scored, and he shares the team record for most short-handed goals in a season at nine.
