HEBRON — Voters will be asked to approved a $639,082 town budget when annual town meeting gets under way Saturday.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Hebron Station School where voters will act on a 52-article warrant.
Chairman Richard Deans of the Board of Selectmen said there are no real surprises in the budget, which is about the same as last year.
“It’s pretty much a flat budget,” Deans said of the proposed town budget that includes no pay raises.
The future of road maintenance is expected to be discussed at the meeting when voters will be asked to approve $80,000 for tarring the roads, Deans said.
“The road committee is working on assessing the road conditions,” he said. While the town has requested $80,000 for tarring needs during the next fiscal year, Deans said officials are discussing whether they should bond an unspecified amount in the future to tar most of the roads at once.
Other road requests include $80,000 for the maintenance of summer roads and $140,000 for the maintenance of winter roads.
In other business, voters will be asked to approve $105,000 for the town officers expense account; $42,000 for the Fire Department and $86,000 for the transfer station operation.
Voters will also be asked to approve $3,915 for the Oxford County Regional Solid Waste Corp.; $1,000 for the Hebron Historical Society; $1,550 for the care of town cemeteries; $4,000 for the Planning Board; $5,000 for the Capital Reserve Account and money for a number of local social service agencies.
