WESTPORT ISLAND — Noah Chittim and Kate Stoodley joined with family and friends from coast-to-coast to celebrate their nuptials at the Westport Island home of her grandmother, Helen Stoodley. Rich Elliott officiated at the sun-filled Sept. 4 ceremony as the bridegroom’s brother, Ethan, and the bride’s lifelong friend, Mary Rafter, served as wedding principals.
The wedding party of six maids and six groomsmen shepherded the newlyweds aboard a lobster boat for the jaunt to the site of a three-day festival of joy and celebration.
The festivities were held at the island home of close friend, Archie Bonyun, despite the threat that hurricane Earl was expected to crash the party. Lobsters, dancing and live music by long-time friend and Portland musician, Jay Biddy, introduced many west-coast friends to “the way life should be.”
After a honeymoon trip to various islands in the Aegean, Mr. and Mrs. Chittim returned to their home in San Francisco. They are the son and daughter of David Chittim and Penelope Jessop of Lewiston and Ron and Leslie Stoodley of Westport.
The bridegroom graduated in 1999 from Lewiston High School and the bride is a 2003 graduate of St. Michael’s College, holding a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1999.
The bridegroom is a team member at the newest TechShop facility in San Francisco and the bride is an account manager at Entrepreneur Magazine, also in the city.
