NORWAY — Two town officials say they’re running for re-election in the June 14 balloting.

“I’m 80 years old. I’ve debated not running again. But I’m not ready to do that,” Oxford Hills School District Director Donald Gouin said.

He has served on the board for the past 24 years and said as long as he is a contributing board member he will seek re-election.

“I like to feel that I do make a contribution,” Gouin said. “I do care about kids. If you didn’t, you ought to get out of it. I feel strongly about that. People have dug deep into their pockets for the past several years. Right now, through no fault of their own, we have a huge curtailment. That’s wrong, but we have to hang in there.”

Selectman Warren Sessions said he is looking forward to a second term on the board.

“I enjoyed it the first time. I’ve learned some things that I think I could help with” during a second term, he said.

Longtime Selectman Bill Damon is also up for re-election. He could not be reached for comment.

In other election news, Norway Memorial Library trustees Dareth Law and Errol Libby are up for re-election this year.

Nomination papers are available at the town office.
