Grange visit

WINTHROP — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, April 6, at Winthrop Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting will start at 7:30, and the program will be under the direction of the CWA and Junior Committees. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. All members and guests are invited.

First Auburn SC

AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet Wednesday, April 6, at the Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. and the regular meeting will follow at 11 a.m., conducted by President Angie Jipson.

Tickets will be available for a Wednesday, April 20, lasagna dinner. The cost is $5. If unable to get a ticket at the meeting, call Norma Goddard at 784-3660. Because of the food auction, there will be no monthly raffle. Pat Donohue will be the auctioneer.

The last meeting was attended by 58 members. Attendance winners were Virginia Gagne and Jeanne Adams; pot of gold, Brian Adams, Al Cote and Gerry Brushwein. Special drawings were won by Letha Haggerty, Gerry Timberlake and Pat Edwards.

Meal tickets will be available for the anniversary dinner at Martindale on Wednesday, May 4. Entertainment will be a musical program by Sandy Nesbit. Meal tickets cost $7.

Home show

MANCHESTER — The 38th annual Manchester Lions Home and Garden Show is coming Friday through Sunday, April 8 to 10, to the Augusta Civic Center. The theme is “Spring is Here – The Future is Looking Bright.”

Kevin O’Connor of This Old House, Ask This Old House and This New House will visit the show on Saturday, April 9. In addition, local musical groups will perform throughout the show.

Makes honors

ANDOVER, Mass. — Collum E. Freedman of Auburn, a member of the Class of 2013, has been named to the honor roll at Phillips Academy for the winter term. To be named to the honor roll, students must maintain at least a five-point grade average on a six-point scale.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 29 were as follows: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Ann Trafton; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third, Jeanine Kivus and Luke Merry.

Winners of the club championship at Schooner Estates, Auburn, on March 30 were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Tom Goodwin; second, Jean and Phil Bird; third, Kathleen Burden and Mary Ann Trafton.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
