Council to meet

AUBURN — Members of Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will hold a dinner meeting at Marco’s Restaurant at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Reservations must be made by calling Senior Counselor Robert Blanchard at 783-9471. All members and guests are welcome.

Golden Age Club

AUBURN — The Golden Age Club of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will meet on Tuesday, April 12, at the Sacred Heart Church lower level meeting room.

Members are asked to make reservations for the chicken pot pie by calling Paula at 576-4082 no later than Sunday, April 10.

The social hour will start at 11 a.m., dinner will be served at noon and the business meeting will take place at 1 p.m.

Hogan benefit

LISBON — American Legion Post 158 will hold a benefit dinner for the Hogan family from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10. There will be auctions, raffles, 50/50 and dart and cribbage tournaments.

Donations are being requested from are businesses to help with the auction or the raffles. The prices of meals are adults, $6; kids, $3.

School registration

WINTHROP — Winthrop Grade School screenings will be held Tuesday through Thursday, April 12 to 14, for kindergartners and Wednesday and Thursday, April 27 and 28, for preschoolers.

A child must be age 4 (preschool) or age 5 (kindergarten) on or before Oct. 15 to register. For more information, call the school at 377-2241, ext. 101.

Memory boards

LEWISTON — The Healing Tree Children’s Program of the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing is offering a free memory board-making workshop for ages 12 to 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room H.

Participants will create their own memory boards using provided supplies. Teens are encouraged to bring photographs or other items that they wish to include.

Prepare for Easter

LEWISTON — Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St., will be open for confession and quiet prayer Monday through Friday, April 11 to 15. Catholics, especially those who have been away from the church for a while, are invited to experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) as a way of preparing for Easter. Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 4 were as follows: first, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; second, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; third/fourth tie, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry with Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; first in B, Helen Little and Judy Abromson.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Road, Auburn. A partner is guaranteed at all games. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
