AUBURN — Mary Ann Poliquin, 57, of Auburn, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 6, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with her family at her side.

She was born in Rochester, N.Y., Aug. 26, 1953, the daughter of the late Wasyl and Vera Pawliw. Her interests included traveling to the Caribbean and Mexico, visiting family on annual trips to New York, and she liked working outside on her flower garden and loved to shop. She also enjoyed casinos and her family cats.

In her younger years, she worked in the insurance industry in the Rochester area, then moving to Maine in 1977, with her husband, Bruce, she worked in several local insurance agencies. Mary Ann was the youngest and first woman president of both the Androscoggin Valley Insurance Agents Association and the Cathedral Ledge Condominium Owners Association in North Conway, N.H.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a supervisor for the LL Bean call center.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce R. Poliquin of Auburn, whom she married on July 21, 1973; two sisters, Ann Kotlowski and Kathy McCombs, both of Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
