Auxiliary fair

MECHANIC FALLS — American Legion Post 150 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a craft fair and Chinese auction from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at the post home. There will be a food sale, white elephant table, Radar knives, crafts and more.

Summer ball

PERU — The Peru Rec Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the Peru Community Building. All parents with kids playing summer ball in Peru are urged to attend.

Easter Event day

PARIS — The Paris Public Library will host an Easter Event day from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. Participants will have an opportunity to make crafts, such as Easter Bunny magnets, and will also participate in an Easter Egg hunt. Each child attending will receive their own basket for plastic eggs and a few pieces of candy. The event is free for anyone in the Oxford Hills community.

Indoor yard sale

WATERFORD — First United Church Of Christ will hold their first indoor yard sale of the season from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 16, at the Wilkins House (next to church) on Plummer Hill.

Lots of new items, something for everyone. Sales benefit the improvement fund.

Texas Hold’em

HARRISON — Harrison Lions Club on Main Street will host a Texas Hold’em Tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. The entry fee is $75. Proceeds will be used to provide services that the Lions Club renders to the community.

Bean supper

NORWAY — A public bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Norway Masonic Hall, 9 Temple St.

Menu includes four types of homemade beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread, beverages and homemade pies. All you can eat. Adults $7, children under 12 $4.

World’s Fair supper

HARRISON — The final supper of this season for the Waterford World’s Fair will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at the Harrison United Parish Church, Main Street. The menu for this supper is Italian food: lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, tossed salad, drink and brownies with homemade ice cream or homemade pie. $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12 years.

There will also be a 50/50 drawing, a raffle and all the Waterford World’s Fair merchandise will be for sale. For more information, call president Dana Hemingway at 595-2430.

Waterford Holy Week

NORTH WATERFORD —  Rev. Doretta Colburn invites everyone to join in Holy Week celebrations at the North Waterford Church, located on Five Kezars Road, off routes 35 and 37, opposite Melby’s Market.

The Holy Week celebrations will begin with a Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 17. On Thursday, April 21, there will be a special service at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 24, there will be a Sunrise Service in conjunction with the Waterford Congregational Church. The Sunrise Service will be held at 5:45 a.m. and followed by a breakfast at the Wilkins House in Waterford. A full Easter service will be held at the North Waterford Church at 10 a.m.

SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner has announced Easter week services.

April 17: 9 a.m., Palm Sunday service, choir sings

April 22: noon to 6 p.m., Good Friday Prayer Vigil (sign up for a time of quiet reflection); 6:30 p.m., evening service

‘Heroes Parade’

PARIS — “Heroes Parade” will be Shirley S. Miller’s sermon topic at 10 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 17, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. Music will be by the choir, Renee Wales and Forest Perkins, organist. Wales will lead the Sunday School. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

Finnish potluck

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will celebrate springtime with a membership potluck luncheon at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, at the Heritage Center, 8 Maple St. An organizational meeting and election of officers will follow.

Grange open house

NORWAY — Norway Grange 45 will hold an open house at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. During the program, Everett Parlin will be presented with the Community Citizen Award for the volunteer work he has done since 1984 to keep the grounds around the Grange Hall and the white wooden fence looking nice. Bridge results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday. A 4 1/2 table Howell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A were Pete Cummings (South Paris) and Dick Allen (New Gloucester), second were Paul Kahl (Westbrook) and French Wall (Windham). Third were Rosemarie Goodwin (Lewiston) and Luke Merry (New Gloucester).

Finishing first in flight B were Kathy Burden (Waterville) and Maryann Trafton (Waterville), second were Linda Smith (Oxford) and Jack Neal (Oxford) who also were first in flight C. Third were Denny Raymond (Waterford) and Hank Sakrison (Poland) who also were second in flight C, third in flight C were Elizabeth Wood (Norway) and Milt McKeen (Bridgton).
