BROWNFIELD — At a time when money is tight everywhere and gas prices are skyrocketing every time you fill up, there is some entertainment relief. Carol Noonan at Stone Mountain Arts Center has introduced a new music series with no admission charge.

Noonan is showcasing performers who may not be on your musical radar yet but are as talented as the high-caliber big-name acts showcased at the venue.

This Saturday, April 16, the series continues with Kerri Powers one of the founders of the now legendary Boston Songwriting Scene. While living outside of Boston, a neighborhood restaurant began a music series to showcase the talent of Ms. Powers and then discovered her musical peers as they all honed their chops. She has played the festival circuit from coast to coast, including tours of Europe and won competitions from blues to bluegrass. Her strong, throaty voice has been compared to Patsy Cline and her long, sexy stance grabs you by the heart and warms you through your soul.

Kerri Powers has been a stay at home mom but her music is taking her to new ears. Two songs from her 2009 release “Faith In The Shadows” were featured behind steamy love scenes on TV and another is featured in an upcoming commercial.

Showtime at SMAC is 8 p.m. and you must call to confirm, toll free 866-227-6523, or local 935-7292. A $10 fee will be charged only if you don’t show. Please bring nonperishable food items for Brownfield Food Pantry. For more info: www.stonemountainartscenter.com.
