LEWISTON — Bedard Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Steven Royer, R.Ph., FASCP, recently fulfilled the requirements for qualification as a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

The ASCP Fellowship is an honor bestowed upon pharmacists who meet the highest standards in senior care pharmacy and have demonstrated an extraordinary level of service and dedication in professional practice activities.

As a senior care pharmacist, Royer specializes in the medication-related needs of the senior population and those with chronic illness, ensuring that medications are the most appropriate, the most effective and the safest possible.

In order to be named a Fellow of the Society, Royer was required to meet the rigorous criteria established by the ASCP board of directors, which includes dedication and achievement in professional activities, professional innovation and in educational, advocacy and civic activities. Royer has demonstrated a commitment to go above and beyond the traditional pharmacy practice by distinguishing himself through exemplary service and contributions to the practice of senior care pharmacy.

Royer joined Bedard in 1999 and has extensive pharmacy management experience in long-term care pharmacy, retail pharmacy, infusion therapy, and durable medical equipment. Royer is an active member of the Managed Health Care Associates organization and the Maine Pharmacy Association, and serves on the board of directors for Opportunity Enterprises Inc. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1987.
