LEWISTON — Royal Burton Stevens Sr., 75, a resident of Route 106, Leeds, died Tuesday, April 12, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born April 24, 1935, in Leeds, the son of Royal S. and Edwina M. (Pratt) Stevens. Royal attended the Leeds school system. He was an M.P. in the U.S. Air Force in England during the Korean War from 1954 through 1958.

On July 15, 1988, in South Monmouth, he married Kelly Sturtevant. He had worked at Bancroft Martin for more than 30 years; he also worked for Duran of Maine, CRS New England Concrete and N.E. Culvert-Burtco, as a welder. He retired in 1997.

Royal enjoyed hunting, fishing and rabbit hunting, he enjoyed local sports and also watching sports on TV, he also played softball in a men’s league and was involved in area softball and baseball organizations with his children. He was a member of Legion Post 204 in Monmouth.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Stevens of Leeds; five sons, Howard Stevens and his wife, Cindy, of Greene, Robert Stevens of Leeds, Trevor Stevens of Lewiston, Derek Stevens of Leeds and Royal (Chip) B. Stevens Jr. and his fiancee, Danielle, of Leeds; three daughters, Corina Sue Stevens of North Monmouth, Heidi Pratt and her husband, David, of Leeds and Vicki McBride and her husband, Mark, of Greene; two stepsons, John C. Bagley of Bangor and H. Dean Bagley of Grafton, Mass.; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with a great-grandson coming soon; six stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Murphy of Leeds, June Hustin and her husband, Howard, of Massachusetts, and Connie Bates and her husband, Harrison, of Winthrop.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a great-grandson, Ashton McBride.
