HARRISON — Recreation Director Paula Holt has announced that the Challenger British Soccer Camp will return to town Aug. 8-12 for all youth soccer players in the Lakes Region and Oxford Hills.

British Soccer Camps provide young players with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts in the heart of their community, Holt said in a statement this week. Each British Soccer Camp provides players of all ages and abilities the appropriate program and level of curriculum, and a cultural and educational camp experience.

Holt said the event at Harrison Radar Sports Complex on Route 117 will include individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. The Challenger coaching staff also provides each child with lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others and for the game, she said. Campers enjoy a daily program of camp break activities and an end-of-camp graduation party.

Each camper will receive a free British soccer ball, a free British soccer camp shirt, a free giant fold-out soccer poster and a personal-skills evaluation. For those campers who sign up 45 days or more prior to camp they will get a British soccer coaching jersey (value $39) for free.

For ages 6 to 8, the program runs from 9 a.m. to noon for $108. Ages 9 through 14 will have a program from 9 a.m. to noon for $108. Ages 3 through 5 can register for the Free Kicks program from 4 to 5 p.m. for $59.
