Butch Tardif of Auburn samples chocolate-dipped strawberries from the dessert table presented by students of the Lewiston Regional Technical Center Culinary Arts program during the 8th Annual Chili and Chowder Taste Challenge at the Ramada Inn Conference Center in Lewiston on Wednesday. Hundreds attended the annual fundraiser to benefit the James B. Longley Elementary School and the Green Ladle Scholarship Fund. Twenty-one eateries participating in the event. The categories and winners were, Best Display, 3rd place Village Inn, 2nd place Davinci’s Eatery, 1st place Rolly’s Diner; Best Chilli Chef’s Award, 3rd place Grape Vine Catering, 2nd place Russell Park Living Center, 1st place Davinci’s Eatery; Best Chowder Chef’s Award, 3rd place Davinci’s Eatery, 2nd place Always Fresh LaRochelle’s Seafood, 1st place Village Inn; Best Chilli People’s Choice Award, 3rd place Rolly’s Diner, 2nd place Mac’s Grill, 1st place Davinci’s Eatery; Best Chowder People’s Choice Award; 3rd place Hurricane’s Cafe & Deli, 2nd place Village Inn, 1st place Always Fresh LaRochelle’s Seafood; Best of Show, for all categories, Davinci’s Eatery.
