STANDISH — A Maine high school student is facing terrorizing charges after a bomb threat text message sent to people at the Bonny Eagle High School in Standish was traced to his cell phone.
Investigators from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office say the text messages sent Thursday morning at first appeared to be untraceable because they were routed through a website that assigned a fictitious phone number to the messages.
But an employee of the county’s information technology department traced the call to a website. He then asked the website for the email associated with the account that sent the message.
The email address was then linked to a Facebook account of a student who was being interviewed by an investigator.
When confronted, the student admitted sending the bomb threat.
