Lewiston — In response to increasing needs, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is seeking individuals who are interested in volunteering to help home care patients and their families. A four-hour training class will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Lewiston Office, 15 Strawberry Ave.
The training classes will focus on volunteer opportunities that support patients receiving home care services as they recover from illness, surgery or a new medical condition, according to Kathy Baillargeon, volunteer supervisor. Grocery volunteers shop and deliver food and medications on a regular basis to patients, visiting volunteers provide companionship and share in activities such as reading, card games or music and transportation volunteers drive patients to appointments.
Preregistration is required. For more information, contact AHCH Volunteer Services at 777-7740 or 1-800-482-7412 ext. 1280. More information about AHCH can be found at www.ahch.org.
