BRUNSWICK — Joe Sullivan gave up seven hits and drew ample run support as Lewiston hustled to a 8-2 victory over Brunswick in Lewiston’s KVAC baseball opener Wednesday.

Corbin Hyde belted a three-run home run in the seventh inning to break the game open for Lewiston. Mekae Hyde also contributed for Lewiston with a pair of hits.

The Dragons (1-1) were paced by Alex Emery with two hits on the day. Kyle Franklin hurled the first four innings and was tagged with the loss.Lacrosse

Camden Hills 1

LEWISTON — Troy Haefele netted four goams and added eight assists Wednesday to lead St. Dom’s to a 15-1 romp over Camden Hills in a KVAC boy’s lacrosse tilt.

Chris Finlay chipped in for the Saints (1-0) with three goals, while Matt Adams and Grant Carrier each added two goals. Dylan Rodrigue, Spencer Martin, Sean O’Connell and Bobby St. Hilaire also tallied to complete the scoring. Cody Rodrigue made five saves to notch the win.

Softball

Brunswick 14,

Lewiston 10

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick jumped out to a three-run advantage in the first inning and survived a late-game rally by Lewiston to pull out a 14-10 victory in KVAC opening day softball action Wednesday.

Kaylen Leblanc led the Dragons (1-0) with three hits, highlighted by a two-run double in the first. Tori Oliver also contributed wit a pair of hits. Laura Biler struck out six and gave up 11 hits for Brunswick to post the win.

Kourtney Bartlett belted a solo home run in the seventh to lead Lewiston (0-1), while Shyan Baillargeon pounded out a two-run double in the first. Kati Dumais went the distance for the Blue Devils, striking out four.

WATERVILLE — Brad Stiles netted a pair of goals Wednesday to lead Thomas College to a 7-4 victory over the University ofn Maine at Farmington in a men’s lacrosse matchup.

Matt Roy, Sean Skillern and Mike Foley scored for the Beavers (4-5). Geoff Carpenter and Jeffrey Morse found the back of the net for the Terriers (4-7)

Jessie Moreski earned his fourth win of the season while stopping 15 UMF shots. Ben Altmaier turned aside 19 shots in the cage for the Beavers.

Thomas 10, UMF 9

FARMINGTON — Megan Denby scored with just seven minutes left in regulation to lift Thomas College to a 10-9 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in women’s lacrosse action.

Denby’s game-winner quashed a rally by the Beavers (1-8), who trailed 9-5 with 22:33 left in the game before Aimee St. Germain reeled off four straight scores to tie the contest with 7:16 to play.

After Ceara Di Baiase won the draw for Thomas, Denby cashed in the possession 15 seconds later for a 10-9 edge. The one-goal lead stood as the Beavers were held to a single shot over the final seven minutes of play.

Hannah Goodenow turned back 12 shots in the loss.

Bowdoin 11, Bates 6

BRUNSWICK — Katie Stewart scored three times as Bowdoin held Bates scoreless for a span of 35:07 in an 11-6 win.

Carolyn Gorajek scored two goals and two assists and Katy Dissinger one goal for the Polar Bears (10-2).

Briana Gross had two goals for the Bobcats (7-5).

Tara Connolly made nine saves in net for Bowdoin, which held a 30-20 edge in shots. Bates’ Mara Krueger stopped 10 shots.
