LEWISTON — Viola N. Dumais, 92, of 550 College St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, April 19, at the St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 4, 1918, she was the daughter of Joseph P. and Laura Gauthier Chabot. She was educated in local schools, and married Robert Ludger Dumais on Jan. 7, 1950. Mr. Dumais passed away on Nov. 10, 1979.

A member of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she also belonged to La Survivance Francaise; the Lewiston, Holy Cross, Sabattus and Robin Dow seniors associations; the AARP; the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Saints Peter and Paul Society; Covenant 50 and Horizons 55.

She enjoyed playing cards with friends, and was very athletic in her younger years, enjoying hockey and bowling.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Dumais and husband, Thomas Stanley, of Kirkland, Wash., and Diane “Dee” Dumais and partner, Carol Burnham, of Auburn; four step-grandchildren, Christine and Michael Preston and Samantha and Matthew Elliott; five step-great-grandchildren, Delia, Ben and Sarah Kate Preston, and Fiona and Henry Elliot; a sister-in-law, Dora Chabot; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Ronaldo, Mozart “Boy-Boy” and Robert Chabot; and three sisters, Corinne Cook, Cecile Drouin and Solange “Sally” Proteau.
