PERU — Phyllis H. Brown, 89, of Auburn Road, Peru, died Friday, April 22, at her residence following a long illness with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Dixfield on Sept. 22, 1921, a daughter of Rodney and Eula Knox Haynes.
Phyllis was educated in Dixfield, Peru, and Rumford schools.
She was employed for several years with GH Bass Shoe Co. in North Jay.
Phyllis married Donald F. Brown on Aug. 17, 1940. He passed away on Dec. 19, 1959.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved doing things for her family. She also loved knitting, crocheting, yodeling, and playing the piano.
For the past several years she was cared for in her home by her daughter Carolyn Donahue and granddaughter Donna Jackman.
Surviving are her children, Rodney Brown and wife, Rebecca, of Jay, Robert L. Brown, of Byron, and Carolyn S. Donahue and husband, Thomas Patrick, of Peru; 14 grandchildren, Robert Haynes, Cheryle Coburn, Lynda Smith, Tammy Coburn, Kris Coburn, Donna Jackman, James Neptune, Angie Hutchinson, Heather Brown, Robert W. Brown, Joshua Brown, Christie Young, Adam Brown, and Leanna Donahue; 24 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Patricia L. Neptune; sister, Priscilla Haynes; and two brothers, Rodney and Robert Haynes.
