WALES — Becca Tucci drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Oak Hill walked off with a 4-3 victory over Leavitt in girls’ softball action Friday afternoon.

The Hornet’s pitcher, Adrie Newton, roped a two-run triple in the third inning to put Leavitt up 3-1 midway through the game. But, the Raiders picked away with runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings before Tucci’s clincher in the seventh to hand Newton the loss.

Lauren Hall contributed three hits, while Alyssa Rouleau, Katie Wood and Tucci all chipped in with a pair of hits for Oak Hill in the winning effort.

Oxford Hills 13,

Edward Little 1

AUBURN — Breanna Martin recorded three hits and three runs to lead Oxford Hills to a 13-1 rout over Edward Little in girls’ softball action Friday afternoon.

The Vikings (2-0) were leading 7-1 in the top of the fifth inning when they scored six runs on six hits and several Red Eddie miscues to lock up the game. Ashley West, Alex Rowe and Tammy Scribner contributed two hits each for Oxford Hils.

Heather Verrier notched her second win of the season for Oxford Hills. Kennedy Hubbard, who caught for Edward Little, had the team’s only extra base hit with a double in the losing effort.

Lewiston 2, Mt. Ararat 1

LEWISTON — Kati Dumais fired a one-hitter and struck out seven batters to lead Lewiston to a 2-1 victory over Mt. Ararat in a KVAC softball game Friday.

Shyan Baillargeon scored the first run for the Blue Devils (1-1) in the fourth inning by reaching on a walk, advancing to second on a wild pitch and scoring on Kourtney Bartlett’s RBI single. Maegan Mathon drove in the eventual game winner with an RBI single in the fifth that plated Lauren Eldridge.

Mathon and Eldridge both had two hits for Lewiston.

Miranda Reindeau took the loss for Mt. Ararat (1-2), allowing six hits.

Fryeburg 12, Poland 1

FRYEBURG — Freshman pithcer Sarah Harriman stuck out 13 and walked no one as Freyburg raided Poland 12-1 in WMC girls’ baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Raiders (1-0) were prolific at the plate, collecting 12 hits to plate 12 runs. Carla Tripp recorded three of those 12 hits, while Maggie McConkey went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Charlotte Lewis also chipped in with a pair of hits.

Sara Maheux had two of the Knights (0-1) three hits in the losing effort.

Cony 20, Lewiston 5

AUGUSTA — Julie Arbour and Mia Diplock led an explosive Cony attack with four goals apiece as the Rams knocked off Lewiston, 20-5, in girls’ lacrosse action.

Cony raced out to a 12-1 lead at halftime and cruised from there with Chelsea Begin and Hayley Lachance knotching three goals apiece. Sava Naji scored a pair of goals to lead Lewiston, while Kayla Hamel, Kirsten McCombs and Natalie Rousseau each added a single goal.

Katrina Duncan stopped five shots for Cony (1-1). Kirsten Burgess had 11 saves for Lewiston (1-1).

Oxford Hills 9,

Edward Little 8

PARIS — Hannah Warren and Danielle Allen scored three goals apiece to lift Oxford Hills to a 9-8 victory over Edward Little.

The Vikings controlled the first half, opening a 7-3 advantage by halftime. The Red Eddies roared back, bit Oxford Hills goalie Audrey Komulainen, who stopped 15 shots, kept EL from taking the lead.

EL outshot Oxford Hills, 26-19. Shelbea Russell led EL with three goals.

Gardiner 19, Mtn. Valley 7

GARDINER — Brooke Davis and Becca Paradee notched four goals apiece as Gardiner sailed to a 19-7 victory over Mtn. Valley in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action Friday afternoon.

The Tigers (2-0) came out fast and executed great ball movement in the first half, scoring 11 goals to the Falcons (0-1) one tally. The second half was more evenly matched as Gardiner took the frame 8-6.

Junior center Alya Allen posted a game-high five goals for Mtn. Valley in the losing effort.

Baseball

Wiscasset 13,

Livermore Falls 9

LIVERMORE FALLS — Wiscasset used a seven-run fifth inning to pull away from Livermore Falls in a 13-9 win in both teams’ Mountain Valley Conference baseball opener.

Each team recorded 10 hits, butWiscasset got six in the fifth, including a two-run homer by Jason Weatherbee to break the game open. Catcher Mason Brewer led Wiscasset (0-1) with two hits, including a double and three RBIs, while Weatherbee picked up the win on the mound.

Evan Castonguay paced the Andies (0-1) with three hits, including a double, and three runs batted in. Alex Rose, Gavin Jones, and Ben Keene chipped in with two hits apiece.

Oxford 11,

Edward Little 4

PARIS — Consecutive RBI singles by Jake Plummer, Chris Priest and Nick Dyer fueled an eight-run uprising in the third inning to lift Oxford Hills to an 11-4 triumph over Edward Little.

Brandon Campbell chipped in with a solo home run for the Vikings (2-0). Dylan Cox added four hits, including two doubles, while Plummer and Dalton Rice chipped in with two hits apiece.

Nate Blais hit a solo home run for EL (1-1) in the second inning that gave the Red Eddies a short-lived 1-0 advantage.

Jordan Croteau fired a four-hitter for the win, finishing with seven strikeouts and three walks. Sean Ford took the loss for EL.

Lawrence 9, Mt. Blue 1

FAIRFIELD — Lawrence took advantage of walks and errors to pull away for a 9-1 victory over Mt. Blue.

The Bulldogs scored five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take command. Matt Crowley led the Bulldogs (1-1) with three hits.

Cam Abbott scored Mt. Blue’s lone run in the sixth inning with a double and eventually scoring on a passed ball.

Lawrence pitcher Blair Blaisdell fanned 12 batters, while Mt. Blue starter Bradley Jackson struck out five batters in four innings.

Oak Hill 7, Leavitt 3

WALES — Ben Dyer came through with a bases loaded two-run single in the home half of the sixth inning to push Oak Hill to a 7-3 lead and eventual win by the same margin over Leavitt in baseball action Friday afternoon.

Cody Provost and Cam Martin contibuted a pair of hits apiece for the Raiders (1-0). Josh Martin earned the win and Dyer pitched the last inning for Oak Hill.

Matt Bilodeau took the mound loss for the Hornets (0-1), but earned a pair of hits and an RBI at the plate.

Jay 15, Lisbon 6

JAY — Junior Eli Capen struck out 10 to earn a complete game win as Jay downed Lisbon 15-6 in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Tigers (1-0) exploded for six runs in the third inning to take an 8-5 lead and added runs in each of the next three frames. Capen and the catcher, Bill Calden, had two hits each on the other side of the plate.

Ryan Riordan posted three hits for the Greyhounds (0-1), while suffering the mound loss.
