WOODSTOCK — The SAD 44 board voted 13-3 Monday night to close Andover Elementary School in June.

Voting against the proposal were Chairman Sidney Pew of Andover, Tim Akers of Andover and Marcel Polak of Woodstock. Andover’s third representative on the board, Keith Smith, was absent.

This was the second vote in the past couple of months on whether to close the school, which has fewer than 30 students in kindergarten to grade five. The first vote in January resulted in a majority of board members voting for closure, but it was not the two-thirds majority required.

Two of the three teachers at the school are retiring in June. There is also a full-time secretary/librarian. All four positions will be eliminated. However, whether the remaining teacher and secretary/librarian will be transferred to other positions will depend on seniority.
