This is in response to Robert Michaud’s letter (April 23) about whether Gov. Paul LePage is abusing his powers. Michaud also talked about the history behind the government.
I have a couple questions.
Is it wrong for Gov. LePage to appear to try to strong-arm the Legislature, but OK for President Barack Obama to do the same thing to Congress?
Is it wrong for LePage to take down the murals (only if we don’t get to keep all the tea party and elephant artwork that is hung during this administration)?
As for Michaud’s comparison to Hitler and his thugs, I remember former Gov. Joe Brennan’s thugs back in the 1980s as he was attempting to destroy the agricultural industry here in this state, and former Gov. John Baldacci eliminating the Liquor Enforcement.
Is Michaud reacting because Gov. LePage is less refined than others and has offended him with his language?
I think LePage is making people see the state’s economic situation isn’t all “a bed of roses.”
Could he be a little less crude? Probably, but I don’t think the politicians would get the hint (some are a little thick in the head).
Questionable tactics have been OK for one political party, but not for the other. Why?
Sometimes we need a Paul LePage to slap us upside the head and wake us up.
