BIDDEFORD — Waman D. “Lucky” Hotham, 64, died after a long illness and very courageous fight, on Sunday, April 17, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1946, in Rumford, to the late Helen (Kelley) Hotham and Gilbert Hotham, both of Rumford. Lucky grew up on Burgess Hill in Rumford with three brothers, Skip, Kent and Lee, and a sister, Patricia. He graduated from Stevens High School in 1965 and began working at Boise Cascade Paper Mill, where he worked for close to 30 years.

He was active in his community as a Boy Scout leader, a coach to community center basketball, and also an active member of the local school board. Lucky had a love to play cards, read books and watch old reruns.

He met his beloved wife, Sharon Sprague, later in life and married her on May 25, 1996. Theirs was a love built on trust, hope and unending kindness toward each other.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; a son, Jeffery Hotham; four daughters, Kelly Ellis, Kristen Frost, Kerry Kaplan and Kimberly Russell; three stepsons, Jason, Nathan and Robert Dow; his sister, Patty Ingles; a brother, Lee Hotham; and 22 grandchildren.
