Legion breakfast

BUCKFIELD — A public breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at John D. Long Post #58 American Legion. Breakfast includes eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, home fries, homemade donuts, toast, juice and coffee. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

Spaghetti supper

BUCKFIELD — A spaghetti supper will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Masonic Hall. The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs and vegetarian sauces, tossed salad, rolls, cake and beverages.

Plant sale

HARTFORD — The Hartford Heritage Society will hold a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at J. and O. Irish Museum on Main Street, Route 140.

Perennials, annuals, houseplants, seedlings and bulbs will be available. There will be a raffle of garden baskets and a door prize.

NORWAY — There will be a community mercury thermometer exchange from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 7, in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Building, 193 Main St.

The first 200 people to bring in their old mercury thermometer will receive a new digital thermometer, free of charge.

This event is being held in an effort to eliminate hazardous materials in the home and in community landfills.

Chinese auction

DIXFIELD — A Chinese auction will be held on Saturday, May 7, at King Hiram Lodge, Route 2. Doors open at 10 a.m. The drawing will be at 1 p.m. You do not have to be present to win.

Over 100 items will be raffled. There will be a $1 table and a 50/50. The lunch counter will be open. Proceeds will benefit Bob Packard of Peru, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

SOUTH PARIS — A roast turkey dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, Main and Church streets. The cost for adults is $8; children under 12, $4. There is ample parking behind the library and the Town Office.

4-H auction

FRYEBURG — Saco Valley 4-H Beef, Dairy & Sheep Club is holding their 18th annual Take a Chance/Silent Auction on Saturday, May 7, at the Natural Resource Building on the Fryeburg Fairgrounds. View items from 5-7 p.m. The drawing starts at 7 p.m. No wrinkled or bent tickets will be accepted. Walk-4-Polio

BETHEL/FRYEBURG — Walk-4-Polio will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Davis Park, Bethel, and from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Fryeburg.

PARIS — A baked bean supper will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at First Baptist Church at the top of Paris Hill.

Supper includes brown bread, hot dogs, casseroles, desserts and beverages. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under.

Kindergarten/Pre-K

WATERFORD — Registration and screening for next year’s kindergarten and pre-K class at Waterford Memorial School will be held on Thursday, May 19. Children who will be five years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Children who will be four years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to attend pre-K. We will be registering both Waterford and Harrison pre-K students.

Parents are encouraged to contact the Waterford Memorial School office immediately to set an appointment time for May 19. Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Be prepared to give your child’s name, birth date, home address and phone number.

On May 19, parents must present a copy of the child’s official birth certificate, a copy of the immunization record and a copy of the child’s most recent physical exam.

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Fire Auxiliary is looking for donations for their yard sale to be held from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Hilltop Pools, Route 26. You may drop off donations at Hilltop Pools on Friday, May 20, or call 674-5890 for pick-up.

Spring sale

PARIS — West Paris Grange #298 will hold its annual Spring Sale & Flea Market on Saturday, May 28, at the West Paris Grange Hall on Church St. in West Paris village. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Baked goods and lunch will be available. Anyone interested in renting a table, call Pat at 674-3241.

The Grange is seeking donations of clean, used but not abused items (no clothing, please) for sale at the Grange table. Call Nance at 890-6711.

Grange proceeds from this event help fund our community service activities and assist with the upkeep of the Grange Hall.
