PORTLAND — Mad Horse Theater will present “Spring Awakening,” running Thursday through Sunday on May 5-22.
First performed amid scandal in 1906, the play explores the dawning sexual and intellectual awareness of young German teenagers. Banned in its 1917 New York run after one night, the play is comic, unsentimental and brutally authentic.
Shows are at Lucid Stage, 29 Baxter Blvd. Tickets are $18 and $20. Thursdays are pay what you can. For reservations, call 899-3993.
