Certified nurse’s assistant  class is scheduled to begin on May 31 and space is still available. GED classes are available on Mondays and Wednesdays — call for start times and locations.

Babysitting training, May 5, 6 to 9 p.m. for three weeks. This class is for children from 11 to 15 years of age. Young people who want to earn extra money doing responsible work often turn to babysitting. This course equips youngsters to handle the job. Learn how to prevent accidents, what to do in an emergency and how important you can be in the life of a child. This course includes CPR training and certification. Instruction is provided by the American Red Cross.

Connect with your inner guides, May 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. for one week. Create a reunion and lasting communication with your personal inner guides. This meditation will employ guided imagery to help you to consciously connect and interact with those who love, protect and assist you.

Embrace your heart’s song, May 23, 6 to 9 p.m. for one week. Obtain a greater sense of yourself and your life’s purpose, live more gracefully and fearlessly and radiate love as you attune to the vibration of your heart’s song. Learn how to connect with your heart’s energy to recharge and replenish your auric field.

Maine driving dynamics, May 24 and 26, from 6 to 8:30 each night. This course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. The course will include discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Those completing the course will receive a three point credit on their driving record and those 55 and older will qualify for a discount on their car insurance.

Mother and daughter self-defense, May 5,  from 6 to 9 p.m. for one week. The class is designed to give both mothers and daughters a fun way to learn various self-defense techniques. Students will learn both verbal and physical strategies on how to protect themselves against an attacker.

Whole cultured foods for health, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. for one class. This hands-on class teaches you to properly prepare whole-food cuisine along with probiotic-rich foods such as kefir, yogurt, fermented soft drinks, cultured vegetables, and more. You’ll learn about the crucial role gut health plays in creating a hardy immune system.

Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007, May 3 from 6-9 p.m. for two weeks. Learn to use the most popular word processor for Windows. Share text and data, use automatic formatting, and position and size graphics. Use Microsoft Word’s powerful time-saving features to create a variety of documents. You must be proficient using Windows before taking this class.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007, May 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. for two weeks. Microsoft Excel is the most popular spreadsheet system for Windows that lets you manage, format, chart and analyze data. Advanced shortcuts let you produce easy-to-read tables and reports. Design your charts to get the best vantage point. You must be fully proficient using Windows before taking this class.
