NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital registered nurse Beth Frechette, RN-C, who works in the Medical/Surgical Department, recently became certified in medical surgical nursing.

Certification requires applicants to not only understand the physiological indicators associated with their patients’ illnesses, but also the social, emotional and behavioral factors that impact the patient and their health. Criteria also includes being a licensed RN with a minimum of two years of experience, having worked a minimum of 2,000 hours, and completing 30 hours of continuing education in the three years prior to the exam.

Frechette lives with her family in Harrison and has been employed with Stephens Memorial Hospital for nine years. She earned her associate in nursing degree from Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing.
