JAY – Two people were arrested on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct early Saturday after police responded three times to complaints of a loud party at 43 Pleasant Drive in North Jay.

Residents Jennifer Sylvester, 27, and David Doughty, 29, were issued disorderly conduct warnings for having their music too loud and for yelling obscenities at and disturbing neighbors twice before their arrests, Police chief Larry White Sr. said

A third person at the party, Joseph Conlogue, 26, of Jay was arrested on a charge of violating his conditions of release.

The officers had gone to the home twice within two hours on complaints about the party, which started before midnight Friday. The first time the couple received a warning.

The second time,  police considered arresting the couple but everything started to quiet down and the officers left, White said.

When police went to the home a third time, at about 1:57 a.m., the couple refused to open a locked door to speak with the officers even though police told them they were under arrest. 

Police forced the door open and arrested the three who were taken to Franklin County Detention Center.

Sylvester and Doughty were released later Saturday on $3,000 unsecured bail each. They are scheduled for a court appearance June 23.

Conlogue posted $500 unsecured bail Monday and has a court appearance scheduled for July 7.
