LEWISTON — Funeral services were held Thursday for Father Laurent Laplante at Holy Cross Church under the direction of The Fortin Group Funeral Home. Bishop Richard Malone,Th.D was the principle celebrant assisted by Bishop Joseph Gerry, OSB, Monsignor Joseph Ford, the Rev. Rudy Leveille, the Rev. Anselm Smedile,OSB, Monsignor Marc Caron and Monsignor Andrew Dubois. The homily was done by Monsignor Joseph Ford. A delegation of priests from throughout the diocese of Portland attended. The reading from scripture was read by Larry Patent, nephew, and the prayer of the faithful was read by Nancy Boucher, niece. The offertory gifts were presented to the altar by Marguerite Rodrigue, Sandra Mellette, Louise Devlin, Pauline Jalbert and Michele Stellin, all nieces. The eulogy was done by Steve Webber, nephew. Committal prayers followed at St. Peter’s Cemetery where Bishop Malone officiated, assisted by Don Parent and Mike Dodge, nephews. Pallbearers were all nephews of Father Larry, Bill Francoeur, Mike Dodge, Don and Larry Parent, Jerry, David and Jim Ouellette and Steve Webber.
