FARMINGTON — Bikers are invited to enjoy the spring weather with a 30-mile ride starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Meetinghouse Park.

Organizers of this fall’s Tour de Farmington are hosting a preview of the newly designed 30-mile route during the May 21 ride.

The Tour de Farmington is an annual bike tour of Franklin County area farms started in 2010 with support from several dozen community volunteers. This year’s tour is slated for October and will feature 14-mile, 30-mile and 90-mile routes in Franklin County with stops at many area farms.

The May 21 preview ride is an unsupported ride of the 30-mile route and will include stops at Robin’s Flower Pot and Whitehill Farm.

Organizers hope to gather input from participants on overall route difficulty and road conditions as they cross through the towns of Farmington, East Wilton, Chesterville, Farmington Falls and New Sharon. Due to steep terrain at the start and finish of the route, organizers recommend the event for cyclists who fall into the intermediate level of cycling ability.

A map of the preview route is available at http://tourdefarmington.wordpress.com, via a link on the latest blog to “May Plans.”

Cyclists interested in participating should convene at Meetinghouse Park in Farmington at 11 a.m. Volunteer tour organizers Jeremy Smith and Jean Luc Theriault will ride the route with cyclists. For more information, contact Jeremy at (207) 232-4691 or sgraffito@gmail.com.
