WILTON — A Smithfield woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Main Street.

Kelly Adams, 45, was traveling west at about 7:15 a.m. when her vehicle veered into the oncoming traffic lane and went across a lawn at 1111 Main St., Wilton Police officer Katelyn McHugh said.

The vehicle skidded and crashed into a telephone pole, she said. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. Shortly after the crash, Adams wasn’t able to remember what caused her to go off the road, McHugh said.

Adams was admitted to Franklin Memorial Hospital later in the day, according to a hospital spokesman.

Adams was driving a 1995 Toyota Corolla, which was damaged beyond repair. It was towed from the scene by Farmington Towing.

Adams was taken to the hospital by NorthStar Ambulance. Members of Wilton Fire Department responded to help at the accident scene, she said.
