LEWISTON — Corbin Hyde drove in three runs and pitched three innings of shutout relief as Lewiston beat Brunswick, 6-1, in KVAC baseball action Friday.

Jeff Keene got the win on the mound, grinding out four innings of six-hit, one-walk, three-strikeout ball. Hyde held the Dragons at bay, giving up just one hit, then ripped a two-run single in the fifth to break open a tight 3-1 game.

Luke Cote cracked two hits to lead the Blue Devils (8-1).

Max Roberts was the top producer for the Dragons (6-4) with two hits.

Madison 5, Mountain Valley 4

RUMFORD —Steve Cusson’s third RBI of the game — a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning — lifted Madison to a 5-4 victory over Mountain Valley in an MVC baseball game.

The Falcons (4-5) rallied with three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The scored remained deadlock until the seventh when M.J. Flanders was hit by a pitch and Matt McKinney singled. After the runners advanced on a wild pitch, Cusson lofted a fly ball that plated the eventual wining run.

Adam Volkernick led the Falcons with a single and a double, while Izaak Mills added a pair of hits. Cusson had three hits for the Bulldogs.

Edward Little 8, Cony 5

AUGUSTA — James Jackson had a pair of hits and picked up his first win of the season to lead Edward Little to an 8-5 victory over Cony in baseball action Friday.

Josh Delong keyed a three-run sixth with a double to plate a pair of runs, while Corey Moholland knocked in a run with a fifth-inning single. Jackson (1-1) was helped defensively with a pair of double plays by the Red Eddies (6-3).

Cony (4-5) was paced by a pair of hits by Corey Lapierre and Nick Lucas. Luke Duncklee took the loss.

Winthrop 16, Lisbon 9

WINTHROP — Ryan Conant ripped three hits and knocked in four runs as Winthrop defeated Lisbon 16-9 in a baseball slugfest Friday.

Conant sparked a six-run fifth with a two-run double while teammate Travis Luce had four hits and drove in three runs. Eric Duplessis and Ryan Castonguay each chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBIs. Tyler Foster (1-1) earned the win for the Ramblers (3-4).

Ryan Riordan went 3-for-3 with three RBI and Kyle Frazier contributed a pair of hits while driving in three runs for the Greyhounds (3-6). Frazier (0-2) was tagged with the loss.

Oxford Hills 6, Morse 5

PARIS — Ben Bowie’s one-out, eighth-inning double plated Jake Plummer with the winning run as Oxford Hills defeated Morse 6-5 in boys’ baseball Friday.

After a failed sacrifice bunt, Plummer promptly stole second. Bowie then smacked a shot to left center off relief hurler Ryan Luedee (0-1). The relay throw was on the mark to nail Plummer, but Morse catcher Wade Hunt could not hang on to the ball.

Matt Beauchesne, Brandon Campbell and Bowie each had a pair of RBIs for the Vikings (5-5). Campbell pitched three stellar hitless innings of relief after entering the game in the sixth with two on and no outs. Campbell escaped the sixth by compiling two of his seven strikeouts.

Hunt had a two-run triple for the Shipbuilders (1-8) while Aaron Mitchell also added a three bagger.

Mt. Blue 6, Erskine 3

FARMINGTON — Nick Hilton helped chase starter Jory Humphery with a first-inning three-run triple and Mt. Blue never looked back in a 6-3 victory over Erskine in baseball action Friday.

The Cougars (6-3) loaded the bases with no outs and clean up hitter Hilton smacked the bases-clearing shot into the right-centerfield gap. Humphery was tagged with four runs without recording an out and didn’t get out of the first innning. Dylan Vining added an RBI single and Jimmy Neal an RBI double to add a pair of insurance runs in the the sixth.

Blake Hart struck out eight over the first six innings before giving way to relief pitcher Bradley Jackson in the seventh. Jackson fanned two in his inning of work to record the save.

Humphery suffered the loss for Erskine (6-4). He led the Eagles with a pair of doubles.

Monmouth 11, Hall-Dale 8

MONMOUTH — Freshman shortstop Brandon Goff scattered three hits to lead Momouth to an 11-8 victory over Hall-Dale in KVAC baseball action Friday.

The Mustangs (7-2) took a two-run lead, 5-3, in the second inning, and extended their margin with five more runs in the fourth. Sophomore catcher Bily Cummings capped the rally with a two-run scoring double.

Catcher Brad Shephered gave the Bulldogs (3-6) a bit of a boost in the fifth inning with a two-run scoring double, and later scored in the frame.

Hall-Dale added a pair in the seventh to get a littler closer, but fell short as the last out was made.

Poland 5, Fryeburg 4

POLAND — Kaleb Bridgham recorded a pair of hits including a double to pace Poland to a 5-4 triumph over Fryeburg Academy in WMC baseball action Friday.

The Knights (3-8) regained a two-run advantage in the fifth inning, and held the Raiders (1-10) to a single run over the next two frames.

Brady Lloyd and Colby Locke produced two of Fryeburg’s four runs, plating one apiece.

St. Dom’s 18, Bootbhay 0

AUBURN — Sophomore third baseman Jimmy Theriault got things started with a bases-clearing single in the first inning as St. Dom’s rolled to an 18-0 victory over Boothbay in MVC baseball action Friday.

Matt Roy had a two-run single in the eight-run fourth for the Saints (8-0).

Alan Westen had the only Seagull (0-7) hit in the losing effort.

Lacrosse

St. Dom’s 10, Gorham 3

LEWISTON — Senior attackman Matt Adams compiled five goals to lead St. Dom’s to a 10-3 victory over Gorham in boys’ lacrosse action Friday.

The Saints (8-0) dominated on ground balls and rattled off three, two and four goals before the conclusion of the third quarter. Troy Haefele contributed a hat trick for St. Dom’s.

The Rams (5-3) played physical, outpacing the Saints 11-2 in penalties. Tyler Rankin notched two of Gorham’s three goals.

Goalie Nate Holloran made 10 saves for Gorham, while Cody Rodrique turned back nine to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.
