DEAR SUN SPOTS: You have helped me many times before and hopefully you can again. I am looking for cotton Red Sox cloth. I was unable to find it in the L-A or Oxford Hills areas. Maybe some readers have some cloth stashed away they would be willing to sell.

Also, I have lots of Campbell soup labels to donate to anyone who can use them. Thank you so much. — Marilyn, MJBNEB@WMconnect.com, 346-3062

ANSWER: Sun Spots found some via a Google search, including this posting on addoway.com: http://tinyurl.com/5v6dcgj, as well as at www.bearpawquilting and www.bonanza.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was wondering if any of your readers have noticed that Gifford’s does not have hardly any of their flavors of ice cream in the stores. Most of them have vanilla and chocolate. You never see grapenut or maple walnut. Grapenut is one of the more popular flavors. — No Name, Strong

ANSWER: Your love for grapenut notwithstanding, Sun Spots would be willing to bet a day’s pay that vanilla and chocolate sell in larger quantities. Since grocery stores have limited space, they have to pick and choose what brands and flavors they carry.

You will have better luck at larger stores, obviously. You could also ask the manager at your regular store to order your favorites. They may be able to accommodate you if you order in large enough quantities. (Fill up that freezer!)

Another option is to buy from a “scoop shop.” Sun Spots called the Gifford’s headquarters and was told that there are three restaurants that sell scoops: Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli and Roy’s Allsteak Hamburgers and Cindy’s Dockside in Poland. Finally, if you want to be sure of all the flavors being available, there is a Gifford’s store at 910 Minot Ave., Auburn.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone who gives piano lessons in the Farwell Street area. They may call me at 784-1223. — J. Cohen, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for 45 records that play religious songs. I will pay. — G. Nadeau, 783-7536

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our students at Oxford Hills Middle School are in need of a drum set in order to do the auditions and final performances of their rock ‘n’ roll research project. We are looking for a drum set that is no longer needed, stuck in someone’s basement, or in need of revitalization. It does not need to be in tune, as most of the students will be syncing their playing with the background music of the original band they researched.

If you are willing to donate a drum set to Oxford Hills Middle School, please call 743-5946 and ask to speak to Cheryl or Pam. We could pick up if needed. — Cheryl Lang, clang@sad17.k12.me.us

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was so touched to see my name in Sun Spots (May 11 query about Affordable Eyes). My mother has always told me that I am famous, just goes to show.

Karen, thank you for caring. I had surgery last October. I was diagnosed with a chronic disease, and I got every reaction possible to the prescribed steroids. The doctor suggested the possibility of closing. I then went to the accountant, who said the same thing.

We closed March 1. So now I am still very tired and recovering from all ailments. Thanks again for your concern. It is people like you who made it a hard decision to make. — Bill Nadeau, bnadeau42@hotmail.com
