While involved in three wars, amid a 9 percent unemployment morass, watching a stagnant economy and while tripling the nation’s debt to more than $14 trillion, President Barack Obama (according to many Internet sources) saw fit to spend hundreds of hours playing, so far, 70 rounds of golf. The 70th round was played on Memorial Day, traditionally a day of reverent remembrance for our veterans — thousands of whom will never play golf again.
And although the president did take time to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, he should have spent the entire day honoring the armed forces and the veterans for their service and sacrifices, and the sacrifices of their families; not on the golf course.
President Obama has made many gaffes and mistakes that show how detached he is from the nation’s traditions and values, and he will undoubtedly make many more.
Hopefully, in 2012, the people will elect a leader who really knows what our values and traditions are.
