This is in response to Brenda Cyr’s letter (June 2), “Support the veterans.”
First and foremost, I thank her husband for serving the nation for more than 34 years, including two tours in Iraq.
Brenda wrote regarding the “Buddy Poppy” fundraiser. I have supported the country’s paralyzed veterans for years. Shame, shame on the wife (in Cyr’s letter) who chided her husband for wanting to give, telling him not to because “you’ve given too much already.” Apparently, that woman has never met a U.S. veteran who came home with one, two, three or all four limbs missing and still smiling.
We’re extremely fortunate to have a thankful God for the poppies and a heart of forgiveness for such as that woman.
As Cyr wrote, “People should think about it.”
