JAY — A local teenager is listed in stable condition at a Lewiston hospital after the vehicle he was operating and another collided head-on Saturday night on Route 4 in North Jay near Macomber Hill Road.
Christopher Labbe, 19, received serious injuries in the accident that injured seven people and sent five of them to hospitals in Farmington and Lewiston, Jay police Sgt. Troy Young said Monday.
Young said a Ford Explorer driven by Brendan Provencal, 20, of New Sharon was heading north and crossed the yellow line and struck the Chevrolet Suburban Labbe was driving south on the road.
Labbe’s passengers were Beth Hutchinson, 17, Megan Labbe, 16, Molly Hinkel, 16, Joshua Jackson, 19, and Kyle Hawkins, all of Jay, Young said.
Hinkel and Hawkins were checked out at the scene by NorthStar Emergency Medical Service ambulance crews and released from there, Young said.
All the others, including Provencal, who were in the vehicles were treated and released from hospitals, he said.
The accident remains under investigation, Young said.
