A tribute to Bill Dunlop of Mechanic Falls, missing since the summer of 1984 on his attempt to sail alone around the world, will be held June 29 at Portland Head Light at Fort Williams at Cape Elizabeth.
Dunlop sailed from Portland in the summer of 1983 in an effort to circumvent the globe in his tiny craft Wind’s Will, only 8 feet, 11 and three-quarter inches long.
Dunlop’s wife, Pamela, said the ceremony is being organized by the family as a tribute to remember Dunlop in life.
