NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer diabetes self-management education this summer, under the direction of diabetes educators Doreen Adams and Pat Watson.

Classes will be held on Mondays, beginning June 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. The first class will be discussing what diabetes is and blood sugar monitoring; the July 11 class will focus on the importance of exercise, managing on sick days and medications available; the July 18 topic will be understanding carbohydrate counting and heart healthy eating; and the final class, on July 25, will discuss long term complications, self management and prevention.

All classes will be held in the Stephens Memorial Hospital boardroom (next to cafeteria).

Individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes or needing a refresher course are encouraged to attend. Participants attending all four classes will have their name entered into a drawing for a $25 gas card.

There is a charge for the class, insurance will be billed. Scholarships are also available; call for more information. Call 744-6057 to register. Refreshments will be served.
