LEWISTON — Beginning in 2011, the former Lewiston Lumberjaxx youth baseball team will be known as the L/A Lumberjaxx.
Open tryouts for the 12U team are scheduled for July 10 at 5 p.m. at South Lewiston Little League and July 17 at 5 p.m. at Elliot Avenue Little League.
All players wishing to try out must be no older than 12 as of Sept. 1, 2011. Players from Lewiston/Auburn and surrounding communities are welcome to come out for the team. Tryouts will last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending upon the amount of participants.
Players are asked to arrive at the field in full baseball gear. Players wearing shorts will not be allowed to try out. Release forms will be available at the fields and must be completed prior to taking the field for insurance purposes.
Please be aware that roster spots will be limited. There is an outside chance that the program may field two teams this fall season, but nothing is official yet. Practices for the team take place throughout August with games occurring on weekend afternoons throughout September and October. Games will take place at various locations in Southern/Central Maine, so travel is a must.
The cost to participate on the team is $100, which includes a customized uniform jersey and hat, which the player may keep. Players must have prior youth baseball experience.
All questions regarding participation should be directed to Coach Rodd St.Pierre at 344-7007 or by email at [email protected].
