PHILLIPS — Police are seeking the public’s help in obtaining more information about a burglary and fire at a summer residence off the Toothaker Pond Road.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating the blaze and burglary at the residence on Walker Road.

While out for a walk, neighbors noticed windows were open and called the owner, according to the police report, Lt. Niles Yeaton said. The owner then called the Sheriff’s Department on June 6.

Some items are missing, and a fire was set in the kitchen area. Apparently the fire went out or was extinguished, but not before it did some damage, Edward Hastings, an investigator for the State Fire Marshal’s office, said.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating some items stolen from the residence. Among them were two deer heads, a JVC surround-sound home theater system, dirt bike helmets, Samuel Adams beer and several bottles of whiskey.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cpl. Stephen Charles of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department at 778-2680 or investigator Hastings at 626-3870. Information may also be given through the arson hot line at 1-888-870-6162.
