At its May 24 meeting the Hebron Historical Society hosted guest speaker Bradley Saunders, who presented a program on radio amateurs, more commonly known as ham radio operators. Saunders provided a brief history of the ham radio, had many pieces of articles on display and gave attendees an interesting video presentation. Having been a licensed radio operator since 1988, Saunders has talked to many interesting people all over the globe during that time, including astronauts orbiting the earth and even former Gov. Baldacci. Saunders and his wife are long term Hebron residents. The next program will take place at the society’s Tuesday, June 28, meeting at 7 p.m. at the Hebron town office. The speaker will be Frank Perham of West Paris, who will relate the rich history of mining for minerals and gem stones in the area and his many experiences in this field. The public is invited.
