RUMFORD — Paula Paladino, director of homeless services at Rumford Group Homes, Inc., presented the Oxford County Community Resource Manual in May to a newly formed grassroots group called the Community Resource Coalition. The coalition has had six meetings over the winter and spring months with a goal of developing resource centers for people in the community who wish to learn about what services and resources exist.

Paladino informed the coalition that the manual is the brainchild of University of Maine at Augusta student intern Ed Provencher, who completed a 32-hour per week internship at Rumford Group Homes over the spring semester. She stated, “Ed did a fantastic job researching many community organizations and resources and he worked hard to organize it in an easy to use format.”

Don Winckler, of the Moss Brook Community Church, states, “This is the yellow pages of community services. This is exactly what our church needs.” He adds, “As the outreach coordinator of our church, I need to know where the resources are. Now they are all in one place. This manual is gold to me.” Rev. Anne Stanley of Christ Church states, “After months of work, our coalition now has a tangible tool which we can use to benefit those in need.”

The resource manual is free to all those who would like a copy. It can be emailed to anyone who has an email address. To receive a copy, email rghinc@rumfordgrouphomes.org or call 365-3551, ext. 212.
