AUBURN — Winnifred S. Libby, 92, a resident of Auburn, passed away Monday, June 27, at Clover Health Care, with her son, Gordon Faunce and her daughter, Sharon Clark, by her side, after a short illness.

She was born in Rumford, Dec. 24, 1918, the daughter of Ralph and Iva (Foster) Stetson Sr. Winnifred grew up in Rumford and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford in 1936. She continued her education at the Auburn Maine School of Commerce. She then resided in Auburn for the rest of her life.

She was a proud and more than 50-year member of the United Methodist Church of Auburn and was also a former youth group leader of the church. She retired from the former Casco Northern Bank in 1984, as an accounting supervisor, following 30 years of service at the bank. Following retirement, she enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting and leisure time at the family cottage in Livermore.

Survivors include her husband, Dwight L. Libby of Auburn; one son, Gordon Faunce and wife, Anna, of Lewiston; one daughter, Sharon Faunce Clark and fiance, Stephen Page, of Auburn; two stepdaughters, Judy Libby Vardamis and fiance, Dale Theriault, of Auburn and Diane Libby Francoeur and husband, William, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Scott and Betsy Clark, Marsha Clark Bennett and husband, Stephen, Kimberly Faunce Fleming and husband, Kevin, Allison Faunce, Catherine Faunce and Debra Faunce; as well as several great and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Azel E. Faunce and her second husband, Harland Littlefield; one sister, Ethelyn Thurston; two brothers, Ralph Stetson Jr. and Donald Stetson; one son-in-law, Bruce Clark; one stepson, Kendall Libby; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Smith.
